The sights and sounds coming to us from the Ukraine have been marked by fear and tragedy, by silence and the voices of the injured and displaced — sounds which the Jewish people know well. In the prayer “Sh’ma Koleinu”, we ask that these voices of humanity will not only be heard, but answered. We offer you a newly-commissioned Israeli composer’s setting of this prayer, hoping for an increase of compassion in the world.
